Durham Bat Group supports the local community in a number of ways. Primarily, we work with local charities and organisations to give talks and bat walks to their members. Bat walks take place during the summer months on clear nights and start just before dusk, usually lasting around two hours. Talks can take place at any time of year and we can tailor the talks to your audience. Finally, we may also be able to assist with monitoring of habitats such as charity gardens where bat boxes have been installed, involving your group and educating them to be able to care for their bat population. For more information on supporting and living with bats, visit the BCT Website.
Community events are dependent on the availability of our members. There is no charge but donations to the group are always welcome. If you would like us to support an event, please get in touch and we will see what we can do to help.
Durham Bat Group doesn’t carry out ‘commercial’ work or surveys designed to information planning applications If you need to find a local ecologist for this type of work you can find a list on the CIEEM Website.
